Who We Are
Can You Hear Us? C.I.C is a social enterprise dedicated to the needs of people affected by Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) in the UK.
NF2 affects 1 in 35,000 of the population and involves the growth of multiple benign tumours throughout the nervous system, most commonly seen in the brain and spine.
Due to the rarity of NF2 it is very common for people to feel alone in what they are going through. Therefore, through its work CYHU aims to reduce the effects of isolation and build resilience by supporting, empowering, and uniting people with NF2. We do this by providing services and products that encourage personal development and community growth.
CYHU was founded in January 2013 and in July 2013 published the book NF2: Our Journeys (a collection of inspirational life stories written by people with NF2) to help raise awareness and support those living with the condition. Over 900 copies have been sold or donated worldwide thus far.
Following the success of NF2: Our Journeys CYHU established monthly support groups on days when NF2 patients are anticipating updates on their health (Companions in Clinic), an online community forum for NF2 patients and their families to connect (Our Community) and informal social gatherings that bring people with NF2 together from around (and sometimes outside of) the UK (CYHU NF2 Social Gatherings).
