NF2er Susanne Rees, has been nominated for the National Diversity Awards, Positive Role Model in Disability. This award is now based on the amount of nominations she receives.
– Susanne has founded and developed iDID Adventure, a social enterprise aimed at improving physical and mental health through access and participation in adventure sports. Working on both a national and grassroots platform, she is actively improving opportunities for deaf and disabled individuals in adventure sports.
– Susanne’s committment to empowering deaf and disabled individuals to live life to the fullest goes further than iDID. Susanne is on the advisory board for Common Purpose, Frontrunner for Disabled Students and gives 100% to developing leadership skills in university students living with disabilities.
– As a trustee of charity Deaf Unity, Susanne also works to improve leadership skills and opportunities within the deaf community.
– As an individual affected by Neurofibromatosis Type 2, Susanne strives to demonstrate to other patients affected by this rare disease that life is still possible! She is currently working on developing programs to support newly diagnosed patients and rehabilitation periods.
