Congratulations and thanks to Sam!
Back in November 2015, Sam Herbert, who is a relative of a lovely lady affected by NF2, completed a half-marathon in aid of CYHU. Here’s what she had to say:
“On the morning of the Donington Half Marathon, I’ll be honest I was terrified! I was ready to stay in my car and just hide but I plucked up my courage and got out there. It was wet and extremely windy and I was totally ready to get on with the race. It chucked it down with rain at the start but I battled through the first lap thinking this is okay nothing to it; by the fourth lap I was ready to give up! The fifth felt like I was running forever but seeing my partner and his family at the finish line spurred me on. When it came to the final lap I was so overwhelmed by what I had achieved for myself and for the organisation that I did have a little cry. I ran the half marathon in 2 hours 35 minutes and raised £195 for CYHU. My aim this year is to run two half marathons and I can’t wait to raise more money for CYHU!!!”
CYHU would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported Sam in her efforts to improve the UK NF2 community and to Sam herself for taking on an incredible challenge in our name – congratulations on finishing the race!
