The CYHU Blog is our newest project being established on the first day of NF2 Awareness month, the 1st of May 2024. The Blog posts will be featured on the CYHU website and web links will be shared across social media platforms. This will enable us to reach a wide audience and will give the world of NF2 immediate access to an invaluable resource.
The aim of the project is to provide education through the provision of lived experience. The blog posts will focus on specific issues that people living with NF2 have developed shareable knowledge of during their journey with the condition, along with tips for people who may experience similar issues.
Issues such as identity, medical trauma, facial disfigurement, grief, relationships, dating, adaptions in the workplace, using aids (such as wheelchairs or canes), treatments (such as Avastin), mental health, women’s/men’s health, travelling, family planning, seizures, balance loss. The possibilities are endless!
We are asking people to open up about their experiences, insecurities and/or vulnerabilities in order to provide insights for those who have less experience of living with NF2 and the variety of issues it can bring along with it. It will also raise awareness among families, communities and medical professionals so that they can provide the best possible support to people living with NF2.
We speak to so many people who want to have their voice heard and raise awareness about things they have learned through their lived experience of NF2 and now it will be easier to do so!
If you like the sound of becoming a CYHU Blogger and having your unique voice heard then get in touch with us – we would love to hear from you and assist you in raising awareness of living with NF2. If you’d like to join the closed Facebook group for CYHU Bloggers click here
The deadline for blog submissions during Awareness month is 17th of April 2024. However, this project will be ongoing so if you cannot meet this deadline your blog can be featured at a later date.
We are so excited about this project and we hope to see many of you continuing to make a meaningful impact!
